Event Details

Co-presented with the China Studies Centre at the University of Sydney

Are you currently writing a PhD thesis on or related to China? Do you work in any discipline within the social sciences at the University of Sydney? Have you ever wanted to have the support and attention of other PhD scholars? Or wanted to know more how other students are dealing with similar challenges?

The China Studies Centre and the Sydney Democracy Network (SDN) invite you to participate in a graduate retreat on Tuesday 17th October, where you’ll be able to share your experiences with a small group of other University of Sydney PhD students who are also working on China.

In preparation for more significant activities to support our research students in 2018, Professor John Keane and Professor Luigi Tomba will host an afternoon discussion of your work. There’ll also be an opportunity to propose ideas about how the centres can help you while you are writing your thesis.

Each paticipant will be asked to present a 5-minute summary of their thesis, followed by brief discussion. Afternoon tea will be served.

To apply, please simply send a text of a maximum 500 words to chinastudies.centre@sydney.edu.au  by 11:59pm (EST) on 4 October 2017. It should include a title and briefly describe your key research questions and potential findings. The number of participants will be limited to 20.

We look forward to hearing from you.
