Stephenie is a first-year Doctoral candidate in the Department of Government and International Relations at the University of Sydney. Supervised by Professor John Keane at the Sydney Democracy Network, Stephenie’s research explores alternative theories to conventional understandings of sovereignty, power, and the State, with a focus on surveillance, cyber politics, and digital technologies in the Asia-Pacific region. Stephenie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (with Distinction) from the University of Calgary (Canada), and a Master’s degree from the University of Oxford (UK), where her research focused on the cultural and political implications of censorship and surveillance in the post 9/11 era in America.
