Annika Werner is a research fellow at the Centre for Governance and Public Policy at Griffith University. She was previously a research fellow for the Manifesto Project (MARPOR) at the Research Unit of Democracy and Democratisation at WZB Berlin Social Science Centre.
Annika’s research focuses on the development and challenges of democracy, with a special focus on the role of political parties and from a comparative perspective.In particular, she analyses party behaviour and policy representation from a comparative perspective. Her current research focuses on theoretical as well as voter-based expectations towards political actors in established democracies and the dilemmas these expectations create for political parties. She received her PhD at the Humboldt-University of Berlin (Germany), and completed her MA in Political Science at the University of Potsdam (Germany) and Palacky University (Czech Republic). Annika has also published in international refereed journals such as Regional and Federal Studies, German Politics and the Journal of European Public Policy.
