Gianluca Scattu is a PhD candidate in the Department of Government and International Relations, supervised by Professor Simon Tormey. Gianluca is supported by an International Postgraduate Research Scholarship and by an Australian Postgraduate Award. Gianluca’s research focuses on political parties and democracy. Using ethnographic case studies, the research examines if and how anti-cartel parties champion, in practice, democratisation.
Prior to joining the University of Sydney, Gianluca worked as Research Assistant at Macquarie University, Sydney. Before this, he worked for six years across France, Italy and Spain as Energy Trader for ENEL S.p.A. – one of the biggest European manufacturer and distributor of electricity and gas. Gianluca has a Masters in Economics and Management from the Polytechnic University of the Marche, Italy.
