Gianni Wise lives and works in Sydney, Australia. As an artist, he works across various media from video to installation, sometimes collaboratively and at other times on solo projects. Gianni was recently awarded a PhD at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, University of Sydney, for his thesis entitled Paranoid Fixations: Art and Political Discourses Since 9/11. He also attended The European Graduate School to explore interdisciplinary forms film making, sculpture, performance and sound studies as well as the aligned fields of poetry, cultural studies, philosophy of mind, sociology and politics. Gianni has received various grants from Australia Council and other national funding bodies. Gianni is included in a range of publications including Documenta 12 (Kassel) magazine project- Barelife, Broadsheet, reGeneration: 50 Photographers of Tomorrow (Museum of Elysée, Switzerland). He presently exhibits in Berlin and Sydney, while writing for a number of publications on the relationship between politics and aesthetics.
