Peter Fray is the former publisher and editor-in-chief of The Sydney Morning Herald and founder of the fact-checking website PolitiFact Australia. In March 2014, he joined The Australian as deputy editor. He has been involved with the SDN since its inception, and, as an adjunct professor in media and politics at Sydney University, was a fellow at the Institute of Democracy and Human Rights in 2012-2013. Having been a journalist for almost 30 years, Peter is deeply engaged with press freedom and related issues in the digital age. His current media projects include milkpilot, a website that aims to enhance the credibility of journalistic content using peer review. He is on the advisory board of the Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation and in his spare time likes to produce political theatre. His most recent production, the Hansard Monologues, toured Sydney, Wollongong and Canberra in 2013 and was based on the proceedings of the 43rd federal parliament.
