ANNOUNCEMENT | Welcome Dr Aiko Wagner and Dr Marc Helbling

SDN enjoys international linkages with with several institutions, including Germany’s leading social science research institute, the WZB. One of the highlights of the linkage is the postdoctoral fellowship exchange. We are pleased to welcome the 2014 visiting postdoctoral fellows from Berlin, Dr Aiko Wagner and Dr Marc Helbling.

Dr Aiko Wagner

Aiko Wagner received his PhD at Humboldt-University Berlin. Since 2009, he has been working as Research Fellow of the Research Unit ‘Democracy and Democratization’ at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center. He is a member of the German Longitudinal Election Study (GLES) project team. His main research interests include political attitudes and behavior, representation, electoral systems, political parties and quantitative methods.

Dr Marc Helbling

Marc Helbling is head of the Immigration Policies in Comparison (IMPIC) research group at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center. He holds a PhD in political science from the University of Zurich and was a visiting lecturer and researcher, among others, at Princeton and Harvard University. Helbling’s research interests include immigration and citizenship policies, nationalism, xenophobia/Islamophobia, the accommodation of Islam, right-wing populism, and public policy analysis. He is coauthor of Political Conflict in Western Europe (Cambridge UP, 2012) and editor of Islamophobia in the West (Routledge, 2012).
